Here`s some tips for caring for your down-insulated items at home:

1. When not in use, store your item outside of its stuff sack (if it has one.) This keeps the down lofted. Compression for long periods of time can cause the item to lose its warmth. Hang it up if possible!

2. Naturally occurring oils can saturate the down and cause it to clump up, so it is important to minimize contact with skin. Bag liners for sleeping bags and base layers for garments can help with this!

3. Down insulated gear has intricate internal structures that can be damaged if not handled carefully. Avoid getting your down gear too wet (outside of laundering,) as the extra weight can cause tearing. If your item is wet, transport it very carefully and support its full weight when carrying!

4. It`s better to send down insulated gear in for a professional cleaning due to the delicate nature of this type of gear. If you must launder at home, we won`t judge you too hard. 😉 We`d recommend using down-specific detergent and placing tennis balls in the dryer with the item. Tennis balls are light and shouldn`t hurt the item. The extra fluffing caused by the tennis balls will make sure the down gets fluffed up as best as a home machine can!
