We specialize in sewing repairs on outdoor gear, primarily: outerwear (coats, vests, pants, bibs), tents, sleeping bags and packs with removable frames.
Our current shop rate is $83 per hour with an $20 minimum order. We are not your normal sewing repair shop. We carry specialized technical fabrics and the equipment needed to make waterproof repairs. Our staff of specialty sewers require 6+ months of training to be proficient in repairs and alterations on outdoor gear, so our shop rate is a bit higher than your local tailor shop.

In order to be mindful of your time and money, we avoid taking in jobs that the repairs exceed the cost of replacing the item. For non-technical gear (jeans, casual jackets, etc) it might be more cost effective to find a local tailor or sewing shop. We aim to serve you in the best way possible, even if that means sending you somewhere that better suits your needs.

No, all repairs must be paid in full before leaving the shop. We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, Amex, Discover, checks and US money orders. Our customer service team will contact you when the order arrives and collect payment at that time. The customer is responsible for both incoming and return shipping charges, and customers in WA state are required to pay sales tax.

We accept daily deliveries from FedEx, UPS, and USPS but please get a tracking number so you know when your item will arrive. We process packages in the order that they are received, and it takes our small staff time to work through the daily deliveries. Once your order is checked in, we will send you an email to let you know it has arrived and the next steps to get your item repaired. Every order requires detailed assessment so please don’t be surprised if it takes a day or two to get in touch after your order arrives.
No, shipping is not included in your repair estimate/price so it is always good to Make a Price Inquiry to be sure that we can work on your specific item. We use FedEx Ground to give you the best price on return shipping while also providing tracking services and accurate delivery. We offer FREE estimates but you are responsible for incoming and return shipping for all orders, whether or not we can do the repairs. If you decide that you do not want your item repaired and do not want to pay for return shipping, we can recycle your item at no charge.
If you are local to Seattle, you can drop off and pick up your order at our shop in Wallingford. We are located at 4415 Stone Way North (in the basement) and our regular hours are Mon-Fri from 9 to 6. If you are visiting our great city you can drop off your item and we will be happy to ship it back to you at home.
We have one sewing repair facility in lovely Seattle, WA. We accept orders via FedEx/UPS/USPS/etc. from throughout the USA and the world, and everything from laundry to alterations is processed at our Seattle location. We do not have an east coast affiliate to recommend at this time, but keep checking back for news about the possibility of a second location for your outdoor gear repairs.
We are the authorized repair facility for many companies that manufacture outdoor gear but please always check with the manufacturer before sending us a warranty repair. Some companies require a return authorization number (RA#) which is provided by the manufacturer. This number helps us communicate about the specifics of the repair. Rainy Pass Repair does not give you an RA#- only the manufacturer can give you this number, so if you have one please note it on the repair form before sending your order.
No. However, we can recommend the use of Mirazyme, made by McNett. This is a great at home hand-wash treatment to de-odorize and make your item safe and clean to use again.
We are open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 6 pm. Click here for our holiday closure schedule. If you want to get in touch outside of our open hours, Contact Us and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
No. We are open every weekday from 9 to 6. We have a small staff and we like to get out and have fun outdoors as much as you do! If you are a local customer and these hours are not convenient, keep in mind that you can always mail your item at your convenience.
We can repair or replace zippers on most sewn soft goods including coats, pants, tents, sleeping bags and packs. Sometimes a zipper can be repaired by simply replacing the slider (the metal moving part of the zipper) However, if the teeth are worn down/missing/dirty, a full zipper replacement is usually the best solution for a long lasting repair. Our speciality is replacing waterproof zippers while maintaining the waterproof qualities of your item.
Sure. We carry 650 and 800 fill down to replace lost down from rips or burns. If you think your down sleeping bag needs an overall relofting, the first thing we do it give it a good wash and dry. After it is properly laundered, we can do a down evaluation to see if there are any areas that need more down added. We will contact you with the results.

We can repair and modify all types of technical fabrics, including almost all types of waterproof breathable fabrics. We only work on sewn soft goods. We cannot always fix items with hard frames or thick padding that is not removable.
We offer wet-wash laundry services for down gear (garments and sleeping bags), synthetic bedding, and waterproof-breathable garments. We also offer DWR (durable water resistant) treatment for gear with membrane fabric technology. Please be aware that not all gear can be laundered- if your item is damaged or too old, laundry services may be refused at RPR staff discretion. We do not launder tents or packs, so please make sure that these items are reasonably clean before sending the in for repair.
